Agribusiness Specialist, Mozambique
ACDI/VOCA is seeking an Agribusiness Specialist for its subaward role on the five-year USAID-funded Strengthening Communities through Integrated Programming (SCIP) program in the province of Zambezia, Mozambique. The Agribusiness Specialist will oversee and lead activities focusing on analyzing and strengthening value chains, providing agribusiness advice to producer organizations, establishing private sector market linkages and increasing farming techniques used in the communities. The position will be based in Quelimane.
Responsibilities:
• Provide the agribusiness technical strategy and support for the entire project, working closely with consortium partners.
• Liaise with private sector organizations to establish linkages between private sector companies and producer organizations that strengthen the selected agricultural value chains.
• Identify trainings and techniques for selected agricultural products that improve smallholder farmers’ yields, product quality and food security.
• Liaise between producer organizations and financial institutions to improve smallholder farmers’ access to financial services.
• Work as a member of ACDI/VOCA’s agribusiness practice area by providing quarterly reports and updates on various field, donor and private sector activities.
Qualifications:
• Master’s degree in business, agribusiness and marketing, agricultural economics or another related field is desired.
• Must be fluent in English and have at least a working knowledge of Portuguese and/or Spanish.
• Extensive experience working on complex projects with national-level stakeholders, private sector organizations and nongovernmental organizations, preferably in southern Africa.
• Experience working with the private sector, producer organizations and smallholder farmers along the agricultural value chain.
• Experience in developing rural financial programs preferable.
• Previous history with USAID policies and procedures desirable.
