Chief of Party, Tanzania
We are currently seeking a Chief of Party for an anticipated USAID-funded Staples Value Chain project in Tanzania. The project’s primary focus will be to increase staple crop productivity and marketability. To achieve this objective, technical components will also include improved farming techniques and best practices; farm management; increasing market linkages and competitiveness for staples value chains; trade facilitation and regulatory reform; and other activities that promote increased food security. This position is contingent upon ACDI/VOCA being awarded the program. Chief of Party responsibilities and qualifications for this program include but are not limited to the following:
Responsibilities:
• Assume responsibility for overall management of the Staples Value Chain project.
• Provide technical leadership, oversight and support to all aspects of the program as listed above.
• Supervise all international and local consultants and local project staff.
• Ensure quality control and timeliness of all deliverables.
• Prepare or supervise work plans and financial, logistical, and other documents.
• Review all financial and logistical information on a periodic basis.
• Evaluate proposed staff.
• Serve as principal liaison with USAID staff, government and private sector institutions, and client-country partners to exchange information and develop professional relationships.
• Make verbal or written presentations as requested by the COTR to varied audiences.
Qualifications:
• M.S., M.B.A., or other post-graduate degree in a relevant technical field.
• Minimum of 10 years of relevant and progressive work experience in Tanzania, East Africa, or other regions of Africa with a similar development context.
• At least 10 years of progressively responsible supervisory work experience, preferably on USAID-funded projects of similar scope.
• Excellent communication and reporting skills.
• Fluency in English is required.
