Monitoring, Evaluation and Research Officer

EveryChild is an international development charity working to stop children growing up vulnerable and alone. We work to keep families together, keep vulnerable children safe, and get children back with a safe and caring family.


The Programmes Department is responsible for articulating and delivering the strategic direction of the organisation’s overseas programmes, ensuring sharing of learning across programmes and partners, and positioning EveryChild as an expert on children without parental care and prevention of separation. Working in partnership with national civil society organisations in a number of countries within the regions of Asia, South America & the Caribbean, Africa, Eastern Europe, South Caucuses and Central Asia, our programmes seek to provide children who are, or risk being, without parental care, a safe and secure environment.

We are currently seeking a Monitoring, Research and Evaluation Officer to:
• work in close collaboration with country programmes and local partners
• support both the Deputy Programmes Director (Alliance) and the Global Policy Advisor to support the gathering, analysis and presentation of best practice and research data to increase the effectiveness of our work
• conduct; coordinate and support research initiatives to contribute to the development of policy papers and the alliance structure.

The successful candidate will meet the essential criteria set out below:
• Relevant degree in international development and/or social sciences. Masters level qualification and training in research methods desirable.
• At least three years of work experience in a relevant role within the international development sector, including at least one year of living and working in a developing country within this sector.
• Experience of working with teams and partner organisations at a distance.
• Experience of qualitative field research, preferably in a developing country context, including participatory methods. Experience of quantitative research techniques and analysis desirable.

In addition you will demonstrate strong analytical skills, with an ability to assess and organise materials from a wide range of sources to form clear arguments and have the flexibility to undertake some overseas travel.
