IT Graduate Scheme at John Lewis Partnership

Location: UK
Last date: Deadline: 26 November 2010

This IT Graduate Scheme offers you the opportunity to influence every aspect of the John Lewis Partnership retail experience. Our systems allow us to analyse sales and trends. They enable us to pay our suppliers, monitor our store and warehouse stock levels, and plan distribution schedules. They allow us to offer our customers flexible and secure ways to pay. Quite simply, IT equips our business to grow, adapt and succeed.

Combine your passion for technology with an understanding as to how it can be applied in real situations, and you’ll find this scheme is for you.

How this scheme is structured

Join our IT Graduate Scheme and you can look forward to a breadth of training experiences designed to give you a solid foundation on which to build a rewarding long-term career.

We’ll help you to develop your business skills and knowledge in a range of technical and non-technical areas, as well constantly broadening your understanding of retail and seeing the impact that IT has on our operations.

Getting the full picture

You’ll join us as a Trainee Programmer or Assistant Analyst, and then progress along the programming or analysis route. In addition, there’ll be the chance to move into project management. Whatever you want to do, we’ll support you every step of the way. Short placements in other parts of the business will help you to get a full picture of the role IT plays within the Partnership – whether it’s systems that make food shopping easier or personnel systems that help managers to head up their team more effectively.

What we’re looking for

The combination of retail and IT provides an extremely interesting and rewarding career opportunity and a platform to build your career in many directions. That’s why it’s important you combine your genuine interest in technology with strong commercial awareness and analytical skills. The ability to communicate clearly and work well in a team will also be vital. Academically, you’ll need degree level qualification at a 2:2 grade or above, but not necessarily in an IT-related discipline.
