Finance influences nearly every area of the John Lewis Partnership, from managing the performance of the business, to safeguarding the company’s assets, to paying suppliers and Partners. What makes it extra important is the fact that our 70,000 Partners own our retail businesses – including Waitrose and John Lewis.
If you’re a driven and determined graduate looking for the excitement and buzz of a career in retail – and you want to develop as a Finance specialist – the Finance Graduate Scheme at John Lewis Partnership offers exceptional career potential.
How this scheme is structured
Join us and you can expect to get involved in many areas of our business, from reporting on corporate risks to analysing the performance of individual products or shops. As well as learning from people around the business, we’ll support you through your CIMA approved training programmes. We’ll provide you with generous study leave and pay for all first attempt exam-related courses and fees.
All round knowledge
In Finance, we manage and report on the performance of the entire business. It’s down to us to safeguard the company’s assets and ensure we operate appropriate financial controls across every department. So while we want your excellent financial skills, we’re also keen that you understand retail as a whole. To give you this all-round knowledge, we’ll ask you to complete three relevant retail-focused assignments during your training scheme.
What we look for from you
Strong commercial awareness and analytical skills, excellent communication skills and the ability to work well in a team are all vital qualities. Academically, you’ll need degree level qualification at a 2:1 grade or above, at least 260 UCAS points at A Level/Scottish Highers level (excluding General Studies). It’s also essential that you have grade B in Mathematics at A-level, or an equivalent mathematics qualification.
