Operations Industrial Placement Programme
Location: Opportunities Nationwide (geographical flexibility required)
The programme will help you put your academic studies into context and enable you to be better prepared on graduation to embark on a career in your chosen field.
You will experience the responsibilities, tasks and relationships involved in managerial work in warehousing and transport, whilst gaining an understanding of the ways in which Gist operates and how this may relate to other organisations and management processes.
Building a personal awareness of your own interests, competencies, values and potential you will increase your ability to make informed career choices. The programme enables you to gain an understanding of the logistics industry by giving you real responsibility in the workplace. Consideration will be given to all Industrial Placement Students for direct entry onto the Graduate Scheme.
IT scheme
What does it involve?
The Gist Industrial Placement Scheme helps put your academic studies into context and provides a unique insight into the dynamic business environment.
It is a role that enables you to span the worlds of business and IT, giving you real responsibility from the outset and providing a fascinating insight into the way in which information technology underpins the entire supply chain.
As a member of the IT team, you will be working on a diverse range of projects from helping to deploy new supply chain software solutions, carrying out research to help shape our IT strategy, or working with our outsource partners to ensure a first class service is delivered to our users and customers.
The IT placement scheme allows you to build an awareness of your interests, competencies, values and potential to an organisation.
This position is ideal for students of any discipline that have a keen interest in Information Technology.
A good knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Access is required.
Candidates must be expecting at least a 2:1 degree and have GSCE A-C in English and Maths.
After a successful Industrial Placement, candidates can be fast-tracked to the assessment stage of the graduate scheme
Our Requirements
The Gist Industrial Placement Programme is designed for students going into the 3rd year of a four year Sandwich Placement course of a degree in any discipline.
At Gist we look for talented students with the potential to become managers. Our successful Industrial Placement Students must be expecting at least a 2.2 degree and have the right to work in the UK.
Mobility and flexibility will be required as our Industrial Placement students will be based at one of several sites across the UK for the 12 month scheme and our operations are 24/7.
HR Industrial Placement
Location: Basingstoke, Hampshire
The Gist HR Industrial Placement Scheme helps put your academic studies into context and provides a unique insight into the dynamic business environment.
It is a role that provides you with the opportunity to experience real business tasks and responsibilities as you actively contribute to the HR team and its various clients. It also provides great insight into the relationships and processes in managerial work.
The cornerstone of our business is people and our Human Resources department recognises this with initiatives to support business strategy and the development of both our business culture and our individuals.
You will experience many areas of HR including; employee development, resourcing and compensation and benefits. You will work mainly at head office, but will experience life at site, therefore mobility is essential.
Person Requirements
This position is ideal for any current student with an interest in HR management. The candidate should display confidence and enthusiasm and enjoy working in a team environment, possess excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively.
