SENIOR PROJECT MANAGER
DISASTER RESOURCE PARTNERSHIP
As a result of climate change, population increase and rapid urbanization, the number of natural disasters is increasing. This has led to recognition of the scale and complexity of humanitarian response and considerable interest in the role of the private sector in disaster prevention, response and reconstruction. In answer to a mandate expressed by leading companies in the Engineering & Construction industry sector, a multistakeholder partnership model, the Disaster Resource Partnership (DRP), has been developed that harnesses the core strengths and capabilities of the sector to support governments and humanitarian organizations before, during and after natural disasters to reduce suffering and help rebuild communities.
To render the DRP as effective as possible, the World Economic Forum has created the Senior Project Manager position for an initial period of 12 months to provide management and coordination of the DRP model. This role will require extensive interaction with the private sector, key humanitarian organizations and governments, as well as excellent relationship management and project management skills.
The ideal candidate will have 8-10 years experience in the Engineering & Construction sector and knowledge of, or experience in, working within the UN system and with humanitarian relief. You are a self-starter with demonstrated leadership skills, are comfortable working in teams and possess excellent partnership building skills with business, governments, international organizations and civil society. You have strong strategic thinking, analytical problem solving, and communication skills. You have a strong passion and belief in the importance of developing collaborative partnerships to help address the challenges and tragedies that all too often occur when natural disasters happen. You are fluent in English and at least one other language. A graduate degree in engineering, economics, international relations and/or policy studies would be an asset.
If you posses the relevant qualifications and background, please apply through our website: www.weforum.org/careers.
