Job Title: Director of Portfolio Management, IAVI India

Location: New Delhi

Position Summary:
The Director of Portfolio Management shall primarily be responsible under the guidance of the Country Director to define scope/strategy and contents of the portfolio of India Programs and ensure that the work streams and divisions work within that scope and all of the organization’s initiatives (program, projects, etc) S/he will report directly to the Country Director S/he shall be responsible for establishing a strategic project framework for India program, along with coordinated activities across the portfolio, clear deliverables, and effective methods for implementation, monitoring, and also assist the technical team members in each area as needed. The Director of Portfolio Management may also lead special projects, as needed. S/he shall be responsible in coordination with the Country Director to provide oversight, control, for the programs and assist where necessary the technical team members in decision-making for ongoing initiatives. S/he will also serve as a key decision maker for programs and projects as a part of the leadership of the India team and contribute effectively to the work as needed along with technical team members, and other relevant stakeholders internal and external to IAVI. S/he shall also be responsible for proposing and creation of new initiatives for IAVI India based on the Organizational objectives and the IAVI India’s strategic plan approved by IAVI’s Senior management and also facilitate the implementation of new projects, strategies in coordination with the Country director.

Responsibilities:
• Working with Country Director, develop and oversee the IAVI India strategic framework, annual objectives, and monitoring and evaluation plans.
• Assist Director of Program Operations and the technical team members to develop, IAVI India workplans and budgets that align with the strategic framework mentioned above.
• Ensure that a project management approach is adopted throughout the team.
• Oversee implementation of the IAVI India program portfolio to ensure coordinated, effective efforts on Applied Research, Development and Advocacy.
o Compile substantive updates from the Country Director and other technical team members on meetings and activities (including their context and relevance to the program) so that important information about shifting priorities, new challenges, and the external landscape informs the work of the entire technical team.
o Ensure that IAVI India is advancing toward the goals that the Country Director has set by establishing a strategic framework with clear deliverables and coordinating program activities across program areas.
o Assure that each technical lead has clear milestones and appropriate strategic guidance from the Country Director, and by providing support and filling gaps as needed.
o Review progress and problem-solve challenges with technical team members on a regular basis.
• Provide technical support and guidance as relevant based on skills and expertise on programmatic activities, as needed.
• Lead special projects, as needed.
• Liaise with IAVI global technical departments on management issues, engaging them for guidance and support, as needed.

Required Qualifications and Skills:
• Passion for IAVI’s mission and commitment to IAVI’s core values
• Proven success managing complex, global projects and teams, including strategic planning and effective implementation
• Ability to build and sustain key relationships,
• Knowledge of HIV/AIDS and biomedical research and development
• At least 10 years of experience in positions of increasing responsibility
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Ability to lead, partner, and/or support priority activities, as needed
• Self-motivated, team-oriented professional with resilience and good humor
• Masters in Science with Degree in Business/Project management preferred
