Country Coordinator at CBM International

Contract Duration: Long term position with an initial 2 years contract

Objective:
Reporting to the Regional Director for West Africa, the post holder represents CBM in Nigeria, develops and implements the CBM Country Disability and Development Strategy within the framework of CBM’s Global and Regional Programme Strategy. The applied methodology is Project Cycle Management (PCM). The person is fully responsible for managing and developing the Country Coordination Office in Nigeria and will support the Regional Office, the International Office and Member Associations in all issues related to Nigeria.

Main Tasks:

•To head the CBM Country Office and manage the office team
•To assist the Regional Office for West Africa in the development and implementation of the CBM country strategy as intrinsic component of the regional strategy
•To develop and cultivate partnership with local organisations with a focus on capacity building
•To develop and manage of team of advisors to develop the work in Nigeria
•To assist with the implementation of projects including reception and distribution of CBM Bulk Orders for Nigeria sent by shipping agent
•To develop alliances and cooperation with government, disabled people organizations and NGDOs in Nigeria with a view to establish an inclusive society for people with disabilities
•To develop funding proposals with a view to obtain resources that can expand the role of CBM in Nigeria.
•To supervise special programmes of the country office. These include: CBM Resource Centre, Pilot CBR Project with the Yobe State Government, Disability Rights Unit, Nigeria Mental Health Programme

Professional Profile and Requirements

•Five years experience of living and working in developing countries
•Experience in programme development, monitoring and evaluation
•Experience in Project Cycle Management (PCM)
•Knowledge and understanding of the human rights approach to working with persons with disabilities
•Knowledge of Disability and Development issues
