CIVICUS: World Alliance for Citizen Participation is one of the leading and most diverse international civil society networks, with members and partners in more than 100 countries and a staff of 35 people from over 20 countries. It implements a range of programmatic activities focusing on strengthening civil society and its role in governance and development worldwide. It also serves as a convener of global civil society leaders through its annual World Assembly.

CIVICUS is seeking to recruit a Resource Mobilisation Manager to focus on the development of new funding opportunities for the organisation, as well as support the management and expansion of the established donor base. The incumbent will be responsible for implementing a fundraising strategy to secure the resources needed for successful implementation of CIVICUS programmes. The job will include: researching and developing relationships with prospective donors, co-ordinating meetings with funders, assisting with the preparation of grant proposals and financial/narrative reports, and developing internal capacity.

The ideal candidate should have the following skills, experience and knowledge:

* Commitment to the aims and objectives of CIVICUS
* A post graduate qualification in Development Studies or related field;
* At least 5 years of experience working within civil society, preferably in a fundraising role;
* Good knowledge of the international funding environment;
* Demonstrated experience and success in fundraising;
* Experience in liaising with donors;
* Experience with budgeting and financial planning;
* Ability to work in a multi-cultural environment;
* Excellent written and oral communication skills in English;
* Proven ability to develop and sustain good relationships key stakeholders;
* Ability to work effectively in a large multi-cultural team and in fast-paced environment;
* Leadership, initiative and diplomatic skills;
* Limited travelling may be required.



Location: Johannesburg, South Africa. Another location may be considered for the suitable candidate.
Start date: as soon as possible
Duration: initially a 2 year contract will be offered.

Salary offered: USD$59 997.88 per annum.
