Gender Specialist, Senegal

We are currently seeking a Gender Specialist for an upcoming multiyear USAID program in Senegal. This purpose of the program is to reduce rural poverty and under-nutrition. This position will be based in Dakar with moderate-to-frequent visits to project sites. The position is contingent upon ACDI/VOCA being awarded the activity.

Responsibilities:
• Assess gender inequalities in agriculture and rural development sectors in Senegal.
• Advise public/private sector in developing strategies and plans to improve the economic participation rate of women and systemic changes within the labor force and businesses.
• Plan and implement public awareness campaigns and conduct trainings for program staff, partners and members of the community.
• Monitor and report project progress and resource utilization.

Qualifications:
• Minimum five years of work experience and a clear understanding of gender relationships within Senegal is required.
• Proven skills in developing and conducting trainings
• Proven skills in designing and conducting interviews and focus groups
• Strong verbal and writing skills in English are required.
• Must have extensive experience working in Senegal.
• A graduate-level degree in a relevant field is required.
• Fluency in French and English is required.
