Position in the Singapore Office of the HD Centre

The Centre for Humanitarian Dialogue (HD Centre), an independent mediation organisation based in Geneva with offices in Singapore, Nairobi and Manila, is seeking to recruit a Singapore-based staff member to work on thematic as well as operational mediation projects. The projects will include ‘Women at the Peace Table Asia Pacific’ (see link below) with scope for involvement in other mediation initiatives.

Overview of job: The position will primarily involve project implementation from mid-2011 for an initial one year period. It will include:

a) Planning and organising of two regional meetings on the themes of women, gender and peacemaking, commissioning Opinion Pieces, implementing country specific gender work in Indonesia and the Philippines and contributing to the development of a report on gender sensitive peace agreements. The successful candidate will also monitor and review ongoing mediation projects for gender sensitivity and capacity.

b) Contribute to the operational work of the HD Centre including building relationships and networks, identifying mediation opportunities and carrying out assessments.



Qualifications: The successful candidate needs to have detailed gender expertise and commitment; transferable/relevant skills for involvement in peacemaking; and a relevant masters degree qualification or work experience. A minimum of eight years of work experience is required, as well as experience with proposal writing, donor reporting, budget management and logistics. Previous experience in Southeast Asia is a strong asset.



Details of the position: The salary will be in the range SGD 8,000-10,500 per month depending on qualifications and experience. The position will be set at either a Project Officer or Project Manager level; dependent on experience. Applications are welcome from anywhere however there are no relocation expenses available for this position. The position is renewable dependent on funding, of which the individual would need to play a role in securing.



Deadlines and timeframes: Deadline for sending applications is 8 July. Interviews will occur in person and over the phone in the last two weeks of July in Singapore. Position commences mid-August.
