The Simandou Project, Guinea is a mega project within Rio Tinto Iron Ore's portfolio. It will involve construction and operation of a high tonnage mine + rail + deep-water port. The project is in Study Phase with continuing drilling and infrastructure development activities occurring at the mine site.

Role
Coordinate delivery of Social and Environmental Impact Assessment(s) and facilitate approval within project schedule.

Specific responsibilities will include:
• Identifying and scoping technical studies and baseline surveys designed to understand and mitigate risk
• Leading a team of consultants and ensuring they deliver quality results on time and on budget
• Liaise with the engineering team to develop and correct project designs
• Development and approval of SEIA(s) and other approvals documentation
• Production of relevant social and environmental management plans including resettlement action plans
• Participation in the development of net positive impact strategies and community development programs
• Ensuring S&E needs integrated into project design(s) and construction activities
• Proven track record in managing large scale SEIAs is required with relevant project management exposure.
• You will be of Graduate calibre.
• Ability to communicate effectively in French and English is highly desirable.
• Previous work experience in Africa, in particular West Africa is highly desirable
• Experience in resettlement and compensation is highly desirable
