Rio Tinto is a leading international mining group headquartered in the UK. Rio Tinto's business is in finding, mining and processing mineral resources. Major products are aluminium, copper, diamonds, energy (coal and uranium), gold, industrial minerals (borax, titanium dioxide, salt) and iron ore.

The Simandou Project, Guinea is a large project within Rio Tinto Iron Ore's portfolio. It will involve construction and operation of a high tonnage mine + rail + deep-water port. The project is currently in Study Phase and with considerable drilling and infrastructure development activities occurring at the mine site.


Role
This role maintains overall accountability for the implementation of the Pic de Fon management plan and initiate natural resource management projects outside the Pic de Fon classified forest

Specific responsibilities
•Custodian of the Pic de Fon Classified Forest Management Plan and coordinating the implementation activities
•Manage re-forestation programs within the Pic de Fon Classified Forest
•Liaison with local authorities on implementation of the management plan
•Developing timber plantations outside the Classified Forest in conjunction with Communities Team
•Participation in the development and implementation of net positive impact strategies and community development programs that support co-management
•Providing GIS Support to the Environment and Communities Team
•Implement a succession plan leads to a Guinean taking on this role inside 3 years

Requirements:

•Bachelor or equivalent degree ideally in Natural Resource Management; Forestry, Ecology
•Fluent in French and English
•Previous experience in Africa and resource management
