Senior regional and/or host country professionals in agriculture markets and trade needed to lead country-based capacity-building and information collection, analysis and dissemination effort to help alert national governments and donors of food shortages.
• Assist team leader in developing tools/techniques to collect data for market and trade information system that will inform a regional famine early warning system.
• Ensure timely inclusion of field-collected price and markets data into periodic Bulletins, Alerts, Price Watches Reports and develop other market-relevant information products for decision makers;
• Identify Africa, Asia, Latin American country-based organizations (state, private, academic) with capacity to carry out famine early warning market/trade information collection, analysis, and dissemination and assess institution needs, develop sustainability/business plan, and provide technical support to attain sustainability;
• Work with USAID Missions, US and foreign government and non-governmental organizations on analysis and information sharing on country/regional food security.
• Manage and report on workplan progress, troubleshooting and making adjustments when needed to meet program goals.
Qualifications:
• Advanced degree in agribusiness, market analysis, or agriculture economics with a basic understanding of food markets, trade, and pricing;
• Experience working in a private sector entity involved in food production and/or trade;
• Experience managing diverse teams of consultants
• Excellent writing and analytical skills including using computer software;
• Training experience a plus.
• Language fluency in the official national language, English fluency also required.
