Program Officer, based in the Jerusalem office
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Program Officer supports the work of the Country Office Director (CD) on all ANERA programs and projects in East Jerusalem and the West Bank. S/he supports the work of the CD in communications with local and international partners, donors and local officials and the implementation of ANERA’s strategic plan and vision for various sectors of intervention. S/he will work closely with the Program Officer based in ANERA’s Gaza City office to ensure smooth communication and to liaise on programmatic and operational issues pertaining to East Jerusalem, West Bank and Gaza City projects and staff. S/he plays a directed role representing ANERA with positive effect to external partners, donors, and the interagency community.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
International/expatriate with the ability and willingness to travel between Jerusalem, the West Bank, and Gaza; native English speaker; self-starter with the ability to take initiative and the flexibility to work independently or as part of a team; knowledge of development program strategies, methodologies, techniques, and management; proven organizational skills and ability to meet deadlines under the pressure of multiple priorities and a fast-paced work environment; excellent relationship-building skills and capable of working in a multi-cultural environment with respect, diplomacy, and clarity; strong analytical, verbal and written communication skills; proactive style and proven ability to create opportunities; strong command of MS Office suite.
MINIMUM DESIRABLE TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:
Masters degree in international development, political science, international affairs, or relevant field is preferred, although candidates with a B.A. in a relevant field and 3-5 years work experience in international development or a relevant field in a project-based position, preferably in the West Bank or Gaza or in similar field-based position will be considered. Valid driver’s license and passport required. Arabic language competency desirable. Requires a minimum two-year contract commitment.
