The Department of Earth Sciences, University of Gothenburg, invites applications to the position of Professor in Geology, with specialization in hydrogeology. This is a new, fully financed position which marks a strategic departmental development in this area of natural resources.

Department Character

The Department of Earth Sciences at the University of Gothenburg carries out research and education in five disciplines: Geology, Marine Geology, Geography, Physical Geography and Oceanography. In geology we have strong interest in applied geology, including environmental and engineering applications. The department is in a dynamic phase of development. Our students have for many years been in great demand in the private and public sectors. We have good infrastructure and excellent laboratories and instruments for geochemistry, mineralogy and sediment investigations. The University of Gothenburg and the Faculty of Science has identified natural resources as a profile area. The new professor of Geology is expected to play a leading role in the development of the natural resources profile.
